Border guards protect the state border 24/7 on land, water, in the air.

The defenders secure the peace of their native country using vehicles of various names, types and modifications, including armored ones. They use maritime security boats, unmanned aerial vehicles and engineering reconnaissance devices and weapons as well. The weapons and equipment used by the servicemen are up to the task. The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine is introducing the use of modern weapons and equipment, and has trained and motivated personnel who ensure reliable border protection. Service dogs also remain an indispensable assistance for border guards.

The northern border is peculiar for crossing. It has both land and river sections. The border stretches through forests, fields, swamps and rivers. A distinctive feature of the north is that the border goes through the exclusion zone of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. It was this very direction that was widely used by enemy troops trying to break through to Kyiv at the beginning of the full-scale war, understanding the importance and special features of warfare in the Chornobyl zone.

Border guards protect the state border in the airspace using visual and radar surveillance devices. In each unit, mobile fire teams are on duty on a daily basis and are always ready to act. The weapons are cleaned and loaded, and the personnel are trained and ready to act at any time.

The border is separately monitored by means of round-the-clock surveillance provided by remote video surveillance cameras. A modern and reliable aerial monitoring system is in place, which allows for remote monitoring of the entire length of the state border. Border guards actively use boats to patrol river and lake areas. They monitor the water surface and the surrounding area to prevent possible illegal border crossings from Belarus.
